Augusto Felibertt, DJ Augusto y su Tumbao, msico percusionista, DJ profesional, coleccionista de discos de acetato y melmano. Posee un profundo y asom-broso conocimiento de la salsa, puede recitarte de memoria, tanto los nombres de los cantantes, msi-cos, orquestas como las fechas en la historia de todos los conos del gnero de los ltimos cincuenta aos.

La pasin por la salsa la adquiri Augusto Felibertt desde nio, a la edad de 8 aos, cuando vea a su pa-dre ensayar con su banda Trnsito Terrestre todos los fines de semana en su casa, en el barrio Pinto Sa-linas en Caracas.

Su padre, Enrique Cascarita Bejarano le inculc la pasin por la msica y le imparti los conocimientos iniciales sobre los instrumentos de percusin. Cuan-do tena 14 aos, se mud con su familia para la ciu-dad de Maracay, en el estado Aragua, y all fue donde empez a tocar el bong, pues ya tena dominio del

instrumento, en orquestas profesionales. Cuando era mayor de edad comenz con los estudios musica-les y a leer cifrados de percusin, que era su pasin. Su padre fallece en el ao 1996, regresa a la ciudad de Caracas y es a partir de ese momento cuando Augusto profundiza ms en el conocimiento de la msica. Asisti a clases en El Ateneo de Catia, don-de comparti con los percusionistas de la Orquesta Adolescentes y de la Orquesta Melao. Posteriormen-te, desde finales del ao 1996 hasta el ao 1999, tan-to en Caracas como en otras ciudades de Venezuela, ingres a tocar profesionalmente en varias orquestas como: Banda Trnsito Terrestre, Orquesta Bakara, Or-

questa Sabor Tropical, Grupo Chango, Grupo Batalla y en la del reconocido pianista Enrique Culebra Iriarte y su Sonora.

En el ao 1998, cuando formaba parte del grupo Ba-talla -conformado por msicos de los barrios Los Erasos y Pinto Salinas en Caracas- Felibertt sufri un accidente de moto al salir de la firma de un contrato para trabajar en un local nocturno. Este accidente le afect el brazo derecho y no le fue posible volver a tocar el bong por recomendacin de los mdicos. Sin embargo, s le era posible tocar el piano y comen-z a estudiarlo. Recibi clases de su estimado amigo Alberto Crespo de la reconocida Orquesta Bailatino, pero no le fue posible continuar con estas lecciones debido a que su trabajo en el rea de informtica no le dejaba tiempo libre. Actualmente, comparte su tra-bajo como asistente administrativo en una empresa con el trabajo de informtica y el de DJ, encargado de la musicalizacin y produccin de eventos y fiestas. Asimismo, es el conductor y productor del programa de radio Trpico por la Maceta, trabajo que comparte con Pedro Lamon, Nelson Martnez y la colaboracin de Jos Manuel Mujica, en la emisora comunitaria Negro Primero 100.1 FM, desde Sarra, Caracas.

La Orquesta La Bondad fue fundada por Alberto Crespo, luego de la separacin de algunos de los msicos de Naty y su Orquesta, en el ao 1989 en la Parroquia Sucre, Catia Caracas.

Cmo fueron tus inicios como DJ?

Desde pequeo me gustaba mucho la accin de po-ner discos en las fiestas nocturnas en mi barrio Pin-to Salinas, donde sigo viviendo actualmente. En los aos 80 y 90, yo era el que llevaba los discos de ace-tato a todas las fiestas. Yo tena ese dominio, como disc-jockey como se le deca exactamente en aquella poca y fue tanto el auge, que a la gente le gust mi estilo. Como DJ profesional empec exactamente en el ao 2001, a causa de que a una persona tenan que operarla y me pidieron el favor de que le hiciera la su-plencia, en un sitio nocturno, aqu en Caracas, exac-tamente en el Boho Habanero, en la avenida Andrs Bello. As que a partir del ao 2002 me salieron varios contratos para trabajar como DJ en Caracas.

Cmo hiciste para prepararte como DJ profesio-nal, en ese medio, que es tan competitivo en la ac-tualidad?

Como ya le expliqu anteriormente y como siempre lo recalco a todo el mundo, eso es una pasin que uno lleva. Aparte de que uno lo lleva en la sangre, que uno es negro, que uno es de barrio, ya yo lo te-na como prctica. Cuando yo pona los temas de sal-sa, las personas se me acercaban y me preguntaban qu cantante es ese?, y yo les responda con exacti-tud qu cantante era y el ao en que se grab la pieza que estaba sonando. A partir de esas preguntas que haca el pblico es que la gente comenz a decir este muchacho es bueno cada vez que pona msica en los sitios nocturnos. Y hay una particularidad y es que


yo no repito canciones, soy variado en el repertorio, en cada baile que voy, no pongo los temas que puse en el anterior y eso a la gente le llama mucho la aten-cin, por eso ya uno, gracias a Dos! gracias a Dos! est siendo reconocido nacionalmente.

S que tu padre fue msico cuntanos de l?

Mi padre fue un msico acadmico profesional. Su iniciacin a la msica fu en la Escuela Ros Reyna de la Urbanizacin de Simn Rodrguez, en Caracas, estudi desde preparatorio hasta 5o ao de msica. Estudi armona, preparacin de arreglos musicales. Simultneamente estudi trombn. Y era msico percusionista en la Banda Trnsito Terrestre. Fue un msico reconocido en los aos 70.

Fue coleccionista de discos?

Correcto. Toda la sapiencia que adquir fue a causa de mi padre. Me cri en un ambiente y en mi familia, donde haba muchos msicos. Mi to era vendedor en el Palacio de la Msica. Mi pap compraba sus discos LP, sus acetatos, en Musical Zamora, Musical Carrillo, Sheila Musical, Discos Capital, Don Disco y en Sonido Las Vegas. Esas eran las principales tiendas en Cara-cas donde vendan los discos de acetato. Al fallecer mi pap, yo hered toda esa coleccin de discos y to-dava la conservo. Desde que yo era muy pequeo, me gustaba mucho leer los crditos de los discos, los msicos, los arreglistas, los compositores, los que di-seaban las cartulas, las fechas de las grabaciones.

Por eso, le doy gracias a Dios! tengo esa exactitud en el conocimiento de los msicos y las fechas.

Alguna ancdota que nos quieras contar de esa poca?

En una oportunidad, reprob el tercer ao de bachi-llerato, tena 14 0 15 aos, ya estaba muy metido en la msica y por esa razn descuide un poco mis es-tudios. Mi pap me quit el bong y me dijo si no pasas para cuarto ao, no te regreso el bong. Hice un esfuerzo y logr pasar para cuarto ao y l me re-gres el bong. Ese bong lo tengo todava, para m es una joya y la particularidad es que ese instrumento es el mismo con el que pap ejecut un solo en la grabacin del lbum Una Rumba en mi Barrio con la banda Trnsito Terrestre en el ao 1977.

La msica que pones en las fiestas es slo salsa y que tipo de salsa?

Al empezar mi presentacin yo tengo un opening de latin jazz. Mientras me presentan, dicen del barrio de donde vengo y mi nombre artstico. En los tracks tambin pongo charanga, pachanga y algn tema que la gente me solicite de: Tito Rodrguez, Machito, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Charlie Palmieri, Willie Rosario, Bobby Valentin, Roberto Roena y su Apollo

Sound, Orquesta La Selecta de Raphy Leavitt, ya que como le expliqu anteriormente soy coleccionista y melmano de este gnero y tengo ese amplio cono-cimiento de la msica salsa.

Para efectos didcticos qu es charanga?

Charanga es un gnero que nace en Cuba a principios de los aos 50 que lo puso de moda en Nueva York el seor Charlie Palmieri con Charanga Duboney, luego Ray Barreto con su Charanga Moderna. Es un gne-ro que musicalmente no lleva bong sino giro y es muy particular, porque viene de Cuba.

Y pachanga?

Pachanga viene siendo para mi concepto, porque cada quien tiene un concepto de lo que significala suma de la salsa con la charanga.

Si alguien te pide otro gnero, como un merengue o un bolero, que haces t?

Bueno, particularmente una de mis condiciones es que no pongo merengue, porque es una fiesta de salsa. Y si piden bolero, si se los pongo, porque me gusta.

Has conocido personalmente a gran cantidad de salseros famosos. Danos algunos nombres?

S, he tenido la dicha de conocer a msicos recono-cidos como Roberto Roena, Pedro Brull: ex-cantan-te de la Orquesta Mulenze, Luigi Texidor, Kim de Los Santos, Roberto Lugo, Los Hermanos Lebrond, Raphy Leavitt y La Selecta, Cano Estremera, Frankie Vsquez, Adalberto Santiago, Junior Gonzlez, Orlando Watus-si, Herman Olivera, Julio Lpez, Bobby Valentin, Willie Rosario, La Sonora Poncea, El Pavo Luca.

De Venezuela: Oscar DLen, La Dimensin Latina, Bailatino (mi orquesta predilecta, Que Dios los ben-diga!), Naty y su Orquesta, Juan Pablo Barrios y su Salsa Latin Jazz. De Estados Unidos compart bastan-te con Lus Perico Ortiz, de Puerto Rico con El Gran Combo y muchos ms.

Por ltimo, Augusto nos habla de algunos grupos de salsa venezolanos.Venezuela es uno de los pases donde se han hecho ms grabaciones de salsa. Las orquestas Bailatino, Negra-menta, Salsa Sabor y Son, Juan Pablo Barrios y su Salsa Latin Jazz, Sabadonga, entre otras, le estn dando ese toque esa pluma que viene de los aos 70 a los arreglos de su msica de salsa.

Esa es la salsa que se quiere rescatar?

Correcto, sra. Ana Rosa, dio en el clavo, por eso es que a Bailatino le dicen la Resistencia de la Salsa, porque es como una resistencia para que ese ritmo del barrio, ese ritmo -como le dicen actualmente, la salsa dura no se diluya, no se muera.

Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club

Adis Tour 2015 El Adis Tour es una sntesis de ms de mil concier-tos que han involucrado a ms de cuarenta msicos en los ltimos diecisis aos. Durante este tiempo el gru-po se ha convertido en una personalizada, dinmica y multi-generacional big band, donde los veteranos y los ms jvenes se han unido para celebrar con elegancia la tradicin musical cubana.

Bajo la direccin musical de Jess Aguaje Ramos (l-der de la banda y trombonista), la formacin de Adis Tour contar con varios msicos que participaron en el disco y en la pelcula Buena Vista Social Club y que incluyen a Eliades Ochoa (guitarra), tambin conocido como el Johnny Cash cubano, Omara Portuondo (voz) la diva del son, al maestro Guajiro Mirabal (trompeta) y al virtuoso Barbarito Torres (lad).

Acompandoles en el escenario estarn algunos de los msicos que a lo largo de los aos se han unido al pro-yecto como el veterano maestro del tres Papi Oviedo, el virtuoso pianista Rolando Luna, una excelente seccin rtmica compuesta por Pedro Pablo (contrabajo), An-drs Coyao (congas), Filiberto Snchez (timbales) y Al-berto La Noche (bongos), un conjunto de trompetas de tres hombres liderado por la alta nota especialista de Luis Alemany y el clebre sonero Carlos Calunga.

Del son pasando por guajiras, danzones, boleros, cha-cha-ch, y rumbas, la Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, Adis Tour ofrecer adems de sus grandes clsicos, una nueva edicin que contar con canciones inditas y versiones de temas populares cubanos. El re-pertorio ser un fiel reflejo del pasado y presente de la experiencia Buena Vista Social Club con homenajes a muchos de los grandes msicos que han contribuido de un modo muy singular en la historia de la banda.

An excellent team of dance instructors made possible brought sensual dance nights to Kiev, Ukraine in the International Sensual Festival Ukraine

People from Ukraine and other countries that came and supported the event were the re-sponsible of the amazing energy making the parties and workshops the best place for Latin music and because of them the artist felt their love, emotions and positive energy.

With the words of the event producers: The shows were great and entertaining and I would like to give a special thank you to Sasha Sun-rise and her team from Moldova for a great show and another great showing from our local teams especially the new show by Yulia. Anna, Alexandr, Sergii

The first edition accomplished all the goals and more with the performance of amazing artist and Djs which most of them visited Ukraine for the first time for a wonderful weekend. The friendliness, the smiles, the energy and more were felt by everyone at the event which left everyone wanted more. El tango es una danza de pareja enlazada estrechamente surgida a partir de la fusin de danzas y ritmos rioplatenses, gauchos, latino-americanos y europeos. Es un baile caracterstico de la regin del Ro de la Plata y su zona de influencia, principalmente de las ciudades de Buenos Aires y Montevideo, capitales respectivamente de Argentina y Uruguay, que se extendi por todo el mundo. Se caracteriza por el abrazo estrecho de la pareja, la caminata tanguera, el corte y la quebrada, y la improvisacin.

Este mes aprenderemos la primera clase a travs de ilustraciones, donde disfrutaras de una danza muy elegante y fcil de aprender.

El baile de tango es un juego de seduccin, y como todo juego de seduccin nace en la mirada, tiene reglas claras muy claras!

Posicin relajada, torso erguido, brazos a ambos lados del cuerpo, la cabeza sigue la lnea de la columna, una respiracin profunda y pausada.

Envolver el torso con el brazo y la mano derecha cerrada a la mitad de la espalda de su compaera, su otra mano a la altura de los hombros ejerce

una ligera presin hacia adelante y hacia el eje central de la pareja, el pecho permanece abierto y enfrentado con el de ella.

Esta energa combinada de los cuerpos hace que los dos sean uno.

After more than 20 years, the team of Tempo Latino put a great effort to promote the Latin culture and the afro-Cuban music through a festival which is organized every year in July in Vic-Fezansac, Gers (department of France). Almost 500 volunteers get together to assist this cultural project. The goal of this project is to present Latin artists and musicians around the world and to invite the public to share the passion and generosity of these artists.

Thursday 23, July> The Arena> 23h30 Ernesto Tito Puentes Big Band & their guest Ibrahim Maalouf Cuba / France Ernesto Tito Puentes was born in 1928, in a musician family of Cuba, the country where music is unique and exuberant. When he cameto France, he created a big reputation in Parisand with his musician partners. In 1980 he founded Los Salseros, one of his first groups of salsa in France. In 2012 he created an album called GRACIAS in honor to the country which gave him adventures, knowledge and experience: France.

ANGEL YOS Y LA MECANICA LOCA was born in March of 2013 with the association of the talented Cuban

singer Angel Yos and the recognized musicians of La Mecanica Loca. Their mission is to defend the

Cuban music in Europe and shows how there are no obstacles or borders for music.

Author- composer- performer and producer, Angel Yos has more than 20 years of experience in music

industry. Angel Yos has sung in the most prestigious stages and European festivals. He created in Paris

the groups of Angel Yos y su Fiesta Cunaba and GanP (reggaeton). In addition, he has worked with

international artists as Gilberto Santa Rosa,Willy Colon and so on.

The orchestra of Salsa Dura and Latin Jazz La Sonora Libre was founded in 2011 in Quito (Ecuador),

and Italy. Al of them live in Barcelona and they are recognize for their music in their own country and internationally after they got together to play

In France, Raul Paz have sold 200 000 albums and 300 000 internationally. Nowadays, two decades later, since Cuba, he affirms I am not any morean artist of somewhere, I am a free artist any social, political or musical constraint, and my albums have all this common point: a search of freedom .

In Cuba, Raul Paz is part of the new generationof artists (musicians, visual, plastic, etc.) who live by their activities inside of the country.



Saturday 25, July> The Arena> 23h30Manu Dibango & his guest Mariana Ramos-Cameroun / Cap Vert Manu Dibango was born on December 12 of 1933 in Douala, Camerun. Manu was touched by the musical grace of his first years in the protestant temple. He is an author, composer, Singer, pianist and saxophonist. His style is a fusion of jazz, soul, African rhythms and salsa. He has used the French culture and style to create new songs.

The critics of press and media are unanimous; Mariana Ramos is a star singer. She owe to Senegal, her home town, her enthusiasm and strength. In each performance, she put her personal touch.When the Franco-Capverdienne interprets the mornas traditional, we feel in her voice a particular emotion. Mariana is a cosmopolitan singer, a symbol of an admixture and a successful interbreeding.

Mediterranean soul with the African spirit gives the musical interbreeding which for years makes dance

Cuba

Five recognized and devoted artists associated their experience and musical talent in purpose to

create a new sound, powerful, spectacular and really authentic. With the name of Cuban Beats All Stars (CBAS), the group join with them the brilliant

musician and composer Roemer Pinatel.

The public will be satisfied to find a mix of authentic Cuban rhythms and more urban sounds. An unique

combination of classic and new music. The group also plays with musical elements beyond of their

country, and they come with a little bit of rap which talks about social problems in different cultures.

Tempo Latino propose activities for adults and children as dance classes of Latin music, multi-instruments stages for musicians and workgroups of percussion designed for kids.

Multi-instrumental stage

This stage has the purpose of show great musicians and different horizons of Latin music, working during one week with a varied and accessible repertory for everyone. For knowing musicians with this style: Bass players, percussionists, brass instruments, ropes, pianists and other harmonious instruments and singers. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, children and teenagers are invited to discover the rhythmic variety, the touch of afro-Cuban music and create sensibility for the singing and percussion with the professors Reynier Silegas, Mickal Torren, Julien Garin and Malik Mahatal. Dance stage

The 24, 25 and 26 of July at 10h30 to 12h30 and at 15h00 to 17h00, Tempo Latino propose its dance groups for discover and dance with Latin rhythms : Cuban salsa, Cuban style, ladies style, kizomba and Puerto Rican salsa. Work groups conducted by: Yami and StEffy, David Lartist, Jonar Gonzalez Romero, Diaz Martinez, Adel Martines, Roberto Rodriguez.

Born into a musical family, who instilled within her a love for music from a young age. Her passion for the tropical music comes from her childhood, because even if Lisa Li had lived in Moscow, she was very close to her Brasilian grandmother.

Lisa Li started her musical career as a DJ of RnB, Rap, Dancehall and Afro Music playing in the best Mos-cow and Paris clubs.

In 2003 she got her first major exposure while play-ing one the radio Tropical Media Paris (Tropiques FM). They loved her mix so much that she became very popular after that. While playing through out Europe she was introduced to the known Caribbean artists such as: Charlie Chovino, Dion Henderson, Michel Mnard, DJ Slam. It wasnt long before she felt in love with kizomba and zouk that she decided to record her first Zouk LP. (La cl du Bonheur, Debs 2012; Jai essay, Compilation Zouk Atomique 2013).

Ruiz y Ricardo Puras, que son los responsables y magnficos organizadores del LATINYAR, un inigualable Festival Internacional de Msica y Baile que se celebr durante los pasados das 8, 9 y 10 de Mayo en esta descollante ciudad de Vitoria, que gracias a su audacia, perseve-rancia, trabajo, esfuerzo e ilusin, han logrado convertir tambin y, desde ahora, en la muy rtmica y desatada capital verde de los gour-mets salseros, enarbolando como bandera el estandarte de este ritmo caribeo y tan lati-no como es la salsa, para convertir definitiva-mente a esta gran ciudad en un referente de la percusin y el sabor a melao.

Tenemos el placer de entrevistar a estos tres valedores salseros, visitando a pie, un lugar emblemtico de la ciudad, un destacado, pro-tegido y deslumbrante tesoro ecolgico de la ciudad, como es el que conforma los hume-dales de Salburua, dentro del denominado Anillo Verde, espacio de doscientas hectreas formado por varias lagunas y un pequeo ro-bledal, donde habitan ms de 200 especies animales, y con un altsimo valor ecolgico y paisajstico de Vitoria. Nos encontramos en el moderno edificio del centro Ataria, desde cuyo espectacular mirador volado sobre las aguas, mantenemos esta agradable conver-sacin con los, desde siempre, conocidos YAR de Vitoria, unos perfectos anfitriones de la ruta del sabor salsero.

Durante esta intensa y muy ilustrativa con-versacin entre grandes amigos, le pregun-tamos a Yolanda Chaparro, cmo y cundo surgi este desafo y por qu se le denomin LATINYAR. Yola, como le gusta que le llamen sus familiares y amigos ms cercanos, con un suspiro de inspiracin y mirando con un brillo que denota su completa sintona y complici-dad hacia sus compaeros, nos comenta que esta historia de amistad se remonta hace ya 25 aos, cuando nos metimos en este mundo salsero como grandes aficionados que ra-mos y todava hoy somos, siquiera un poco ms. Nos encantaba disfrutar de la vida bai-



lando, mejor o peor, eso era lo de menos, pero para nosotros escuchar los ritmos latinos era nuestra aficin, nuestra pasin, nuestra vida entera. Eso nos llev a visitar por toda Espaa y parte de Europa , ciudades donde se celebra-ban entonces y an ahora, eventos de simila-res caractersticas, congresos de salsa, donde se anunciaba y se reunan profesores, bailari-nes, artistas, coleccionistas de msica, anima-dores, djs y compaas de los ms diversos puntos de la geografa, mostrando todo su conocimiento y talento al resto de aficiona-dos y profesionales que no podan disfrutar de su caudal de sabidura, al vivir en lugares muy distantes unos de otros. Fue entonces cuando nos dimos cuenta que en nuestra querida ciudad de Vitoria, faltaba algo, y nos pusimos manos a la obra para organizar un evento, un festival de msica y baile que des-lumbrara nuestra capital, desbordndola de muy buen ritmo.

Antonio Ruiz, en consonancia y complemen-tando lo dicho por Yolanda, mientras ojea un documento y termina de apuntalar por su te-lfono mvil, un compromiso con un medio de comunicacin local, nos comenta que, tras esa grandisima aficin, se esconda ya la nece-sidad de crear una asociacin que nos repre-sentara, un nombre que rpidamente se aso-ciara con nosotros, y de ah surgi la idea de crear este nombre YAR, que se corresponde con la primera inicial de cada uno de nuestros nombres. De esta forma, aunando esfuerzo, voluntad, compaerismo y responsabilidad, logramos fundar esta asociacin cultural con el fin de ser reconocidos y poder, de esta ma-nera, dirigirnos a los principales organismos de la ciudad, con el fin de dotar de un nece-sario presupuesto econmico todas las activi-

dades culturales que llevamos a cabo durante el ao en nuestra ciudad, abierta para todo el mundo, y que tienen su corolario durante el mes de Mayo de cada ao, con el Festival de Msica y Baile, LATIN YAR VITORIA GASTEIZ, con un programa atractivo para todos.

Mientras Antonio, se desmarca un momen-to tan solo de esta muy confortable reunin de amigos, porque la organizacin de acti-vidades y reuniones es frentica das antes del gran estreno en la Plaza Espaa, con el formidable concierto en directo de la exitosa orquesta salsera venida desde Barcelona ca-pital, Tromboranga, que arrancan su gira en la

ciudad verde, tras la presentacin de su nue-vo trabajo hace unos dias en la ciudad Condal, Golpe con Meloda, Ricardo Puras, el tercero en plena concordia y para nada en discordia ni mucho menos, recordaba como antes de asociarse y resultar la asociacin YAR, ya cola-boraban con otros organizadores y entidades, llevando a cabo una funcin complementaria. Yolanda era la entendida, y sigue siendo, en la msica afroantillana, dedicndose a ser la Dj del grupo, se la conoca en todos sitios por DJ YOLA, y su preferencia por la msica cubana, lo que en el argot se denomina el cubaneo, Antonio era el relaciones pblicas, dedicando su esfuerzo a la publicidad y comunicacin en

los medios y redes sociales, donde los salse-ros se mueven con gran intensidad y capa-cidad de convocatoria, mientras que yo, re-trataba con mi cmara de fotos, las mejores instntaneas de los congresos y encuentros donde bamos, presentando fotos de los ar-tistas, aficionados, djs, etc As a cada uno se nos identificaba por una determinada actividad, lo que ms tarde se llamara YAR. Que, por cierto, son ya 15 aos de una mu-tua y solidaria andadura como tales. Somos como los protagonistas de aqul programa Escenas de Matrimonio, advierte mientras esboza una gran sonrisa, que contagia al res-to de protagonistas, sabedores de que hay

detrs de ellos una gran historia de amistad y aprecio infinito, de complicidad apabullante y de un elogioso y eterno compaerismo.

Yolanda, recogiendo el testigo de Ricardo, nos comenta, como en esta apasionada con-vivencia salsera no todo es color de rosa ni todo es tan apacible y bonito. Hay momentos para todo, exclama con cierta reivindidacin de lo cotidiano, lo que nos ha llevado incluso a etapas muy cortas eso s, de irredento aleja-miento, para no convertir en una batalla cam-pal el trasiego de la convivencia asociativa y de amistad, an echndonos de menos, aun-que luego la reconciliacin siempre fue muy intensa y se recompona todo. Era todo puro teatro, como cantaba La Lupe, aaden entre risas, Antonio y Ricardo.

Sea como fuere, estamos muy orgullosos, contentos y felices de habernos conocido no hace tantos aos, exclama Antonio, con ojos de nio travieso, y de contar con personas tan excepcionales a nuestro lado, que nos facilitan y hacen llegar siempre a buen puer-to, porque sin un equipo de altura, esto sera prcticamente imposible, estando conde-nado irremediablemente al fracaso. Por eso, contar con personas tan cercanas a nosotros como Beatriz o Maitane, por poner un ejem-plo, entre otros muchos profesores, amigos, compaeros y familiares, nos hace brillar y conseguir nuestras metas siempre que nos lo proponemos. Nuestra asociacin no dispone ni cuenta con un nmero determinado de so-cios que paguen una cuota cada cierto espa-cio de tiempo, sino que para nosotros, organi-zar una serie de actividades como realizamos cada cierto tiempo para atraer hasta Vitoria Gasteiz a grandes artistas, msicos, bailari-



nes, profesores o djs, supone un esfuerzo superior. Por eso, entre otras muchas cosas, estamos muy orgullosos de que, ya durante el primer da del Festival, tuvimos el privile-gio de contar con una orquesta de reconoci-do prestigio nacional e internacional, como es Tromboranga, venida desde Barcelona, y que se hubiera podido disfrutar, de forma gratuita, por parte de todos los asistentes a la fastuosa Plaza de Espaa de nuestra capi-tal, como el gran momento lgido del formi-dable e inolvidable fin de semana que vivi-mos en la esquina del barrio salsero. De ah que la colaboracin de nuestros patrocina-dores privados as como del Ayuntamientode Vitoria, a travs de su Concejala de Cul-tura, fuera un necesario y fortsimo acicate porque gracias a su confianza y apoyo, he-mos logrado que nuestro sueo sea una

muy potente y amplia realidad cultural para nuestra preciosa ciudad, con una excepcio-nal proyeccin para todos sus habitantes y los turistas que nos visitaron durante estos das de msica y baile al ms puro estilo sal-sero, porque como nos comenta Yolanda, sin cultura y sin educacion, no hay absoluta-mente nada.

En la despedida, cuando uno recorre este maravilloso lugar, conversando sobre la vida y el baile, con estos magnficos anfitriones, los ya para siempre YAR, Yolanda, Antonio y Ricardo, uno siente la necesidad de volver, de regresar siempre porque no hay nada ms placentero en la vida que conocer una grandisima ciudad como es Vitoria Gastiz, a travs de un Festival Internacional de Msi-ca y Baile, como es el LATINYAR, un congreso

Ciudad del Mar casi toca a la puerta para los aman-tes de la msica alternativa, aquella donde se fu-sionan los gneros ms diversos en bsqueda de una sonoridad sui gneris.

Como apertura del verano 2015, el Festival llegar a la ciudad de Cienfuegos del 2 al 5 de julio, con toda una avalancha de iniciativas que comenzarn a las 7:00 p.m. del primer da, en la sede provincial de la Asociacin Hermanos Saz, donde desfilarn los trovadores Erick Snchez, Silvio Alejandro, Ray Fer-nndez, Fernando Bcquer y otros.

Afortunadamente, Ciudad del Mar se mantiene con la proyeccin que siempre ha defendido el Comit Organizador: defender todos los gneros musicales como concepto esttico-artstico.

Este ao, como me han dado la posibilidad de cre-cer, de realizar otra edicin, lo que pretendemos es perpetuar la esencia del festival y alcanzar una con-notacin internacional. Dada la oportunidad de tener un mayor impacto, ya se realizan las acciones necesa-rias para que el evento llegue a cada rincn de Cuba, y sobre todo a las provincias ms cercanas.

Una de las novedades es que hemos incluido dos nuevas marcas con el fin de llegar a ms personas. Una de ellas ser A golpe de Sombrero y tendr su espacio el jueves, en la inauguracin de Festival, a las 8:30 p.m. en el Teatro Toms Terry.

Esta es una iniciativa que hemos defendido los can-tantes que usamos sombrero, como Ernesto Blanco, Adrin Berazan, los muchachos de Qva Libre y otros que en su momento han llevado esta esttica.

La convocatoria tendr dos nuevos escenarios, as aumentan las posibilidades de incorporar a otros artistas que no estaban en la programacin inicial. Entre ellos est el Hotel Jagua, El Benny (centro de Palmares) y la Asociacin Hermanos Saz, en conjunto con la EGREM.

Sin dudas, el escoger a Cienfuegos como escenario principal es siempre una carta de xito, pues segn Ro-baina las personas que consumen msica apuestan por lo alternativo y pone a disposicin sus recursos para propiciar que la msica de este tipo se consuma.

Los cienfuegueros son disciplinados, cultos y estamos muy felices de ir con nuestro arte a una ciudad as, donde nos reciben tan calurosamente. Ellos siempre nos han dado la posibilidad de crecer.

La segunda edicin del Festival de Msica Alternativa Ciudad del Mar se desarrollar en Cienfuegos del 2 al 5 de julio venidero, para reunir a diversos artistas y sus pblicos en un enriquecedor intercambio cultural.

En el evento que da inicio a las actividades del verano en la Perla del Sur, han confirmado su participacin las agrupaciones Qva Libre, Arnaldo Rodrguez y su Talismn, La Charan-ga Latina, el Son del Nene, Yoruba Andabo y Karamba.

Baile de Barrio invites you to dance beside the water to the hot rhythms of Cuban Salsa with one of Torontos best-loved salsa singers, Yani, and dance teachers Miko Sobreira and friends. Sobriera teaches salsa dura, a form of street style salsa.

Born in 1976 in Camaguey, Cuba, Yani Borrell has a unique voice and form of expression. He began his professional career at the age of 17 when he became the main singer of Orquesta Ideal, a well-known orchestra from his native town. After a few years he traveled with different show bands in Cuba performing in the most important venues in the country, which helped him to develop an authentic singing style. Since arriving in Toronto

in 2004, Borrell has dominated the Latin music scene in Canada and has shared the stage with salsa legends such as Andy Montanez, Candido Fabre,

Pupy y los que Son Son and Los Van Van among others.

Yani Borrell

Miko Sobreira is a highly after sought salsa teacher who has been working with youth and children for many years. Over the past 16 years, Miko has taught for dance companies, studios, universities, colleges and high schools, and participated in events and fundraisers across Canada. Growing up in the little towns of Venezuela, Mexico and Spain, Miko was exposed to and deeply affected by Afro-Venezuelan, Latin-Caribbean and Spanish popular culture. His theatrical career began at the age of seven, while always being involved in the cultural dances of the regions where he happened to be living. Art has been essential to his realityespecially the performing arts. The streets of his hometowns were the perfect school for his salsa dance training, where dancing is more than social entertainment. There, dancing is a way for individuals and society to cope with hardship and express their everyday reality. In dance, struggle, hope and dreams are channeled together to perfectly reflect identity.

Thats why the next ruedafestival Stuttgart (17- 19th July 2015) will host the official European Championships in Rueda de Casino for the very first time.

Date: Friday, 17th July 2015: Presentation of the groups and possibly a preliminary round Saturday, 18th July 2015: Final during the ruedafestivals Gala-party.

Place: Sngerhalle in Stuttgart/GermanyPrize: There will be prizes and cups for at least the best three groups. The winning team will get at least 1.000 euros in cash.

Start in the closed dance position. The lead takes his partners right hand in his left and places his right hand on her left

shoulder blade. The partner should keep her left hand on his right shoulder, with her arm over his.Or start in the hand-in-hand position. The lead has his palms facing upwards, and the partner takes his hands with

her palms down. This allows for more freedom of movement.

Have good posture. When dancing, you should always keep your spine straight, your chin up and your shoulders back. Your chest should naturally then puff out a bit.

Your body should be held with strength at all points.[1]Always look up. Keep your head held up or tilted to look at your partner. Do

not look at your feet or your partners. Looking at your feet is a dead giveaway that youre nervous and not sure what youre doing.

Keep your arms bent at a 90 degree angle from the elbows.[2] In this position,your hands are most easily accessible to your partner. Your arm should rest on

horizontal plane.

Move your hips. Most of the movement in the Salsa comes from the hips, so you will want to keep your hips loose. Dont be afraid to sway your hips. Even if youre just moving your foot, know that a slight hip movement goes along with it. If you move your right foot out, your

right hip juts out a bit, too.

Choose a song that has a 4/4 beat (four beats to the bar) and a fast tem-po[2]. Youll want music that lies somewhere between 160-220 beats

per minute.[3] Before you start a song, make sure that you can keep up with the speed and identify the beats for your steps.

Count as you listen to the song. If you count out the beats in the music, you will be able to find the Salsa beat and identify which

steps go with which beat. If you cant keep count while youre listening to the song, its best to choose a different one.

4/4 time is counted in 8-counts. Youll be doing one standard Salsa step in 8 beats.
