Powiślański University started its activity in 1999. It is a non-state school established under the decision of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 22 September
1999. It was entered in the Register of Non-state Institutions of Higher Education and Associations of Non-state Institutions of Higher Education under number 166.
Powiślański College is a non-profit organization. It was founded by the Society for Economic and Ecological Education in Kwidzyn, an organization of professionals associated with various forms of education engaged in a continuous improvement of methods and learning outcomes.
About the College
As solid education of students is our priority, we select lecturers with particular care, taking into account their knowledge, qualifications, experience and skills.
Our qualified teaching staff of 87 includes 9 professors, 5 doctors with habilitation, 29 doctors and 44 masters of arts or masters of science who ensure high teaching standards.
Powiślański College with its registered office in Kwidzyn is located approximately 100 kilometers from regional academic centers and therefore we put particular emphasis on the acquisition of our own staff. They are supplemented by top specialists from the Medical University of Gdańsk, University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. These are respected academics with practical knowledge and scholarly achievements recognised both in Poland and abroad. In selecting our teaching staff we assess their scientific profile to make sure it matches the academic field and programmes offered by our College. The core of our staff is experienced PRACTITIONERS from renowned specialist hospitals, manufacturing plants and public institutions.

Practical training
When organizing students’ practical placements, we are guided by the principle that traineeship must help students prepare for moving into the labour market by gaining the right experience, being able to determine their position on the competitive labour market and helping them to choose their own path of development. Currently, more than 60 major employers from the Pomerania region cooperate with the College, including International Paper Kwidzyn Sp. z o.o., Jabil Circuit Poland Sp. z o.o., Powiślański Bank Spółdzielczy in Kwidzyn, Forest Inspectorate in Kwidzyn, District Inspectorate of the Prison Service in Gdańsk, Municipal Hospital in Kwidzyn, Dr Władysław Biegański Specialist Regional Hospital in Grudziądz.
Scholarships
Powiślański College in Kwidzyn takes a number of measures to make studies accessible to as many people as possible. One of these measures is the scholarship system. Students in a financial hardship receive low income scholarships and allowances whereas capable students are granted the Rector’s scholarship.
Special privileges are aimed at people with disabilities.Scholarships for low income students and persons with
disabilities can be received throughout the entire period of studies, also during the first year, while scholarship for academic or sports achievements can be obtained from the second year of studies.
The amount available to the University Scholarship Committee is each year about PLN 400.000. Each student who meets the formal requirements has benefited from scholarships and allowances. The average amount paid as low-income scholarships and scholarship for the disabled is PLN 400 per month. The college also grants one-time emergency allowances in the amount of up to PLN 5,000.
