FINEPRINT August 2015 #353 Hastings Valley Fine Art Association Inc. PO Box 8044 Port Macquarie 2444 www.hastingsvalleyart.net.au Presidents report for August Hello Members I reported last issue that the committee had decided on a number of measures to return some of our income back to you. We have lowered the hanging fee for the gallery per four paintings, purchased new chairs, installed outside lights and funded our birthday party. We are going to purchase a television and DVD player so we can run some of the library DVDs for the public, and we are contributing to the new roof to the sum of $2000. Another major decision was made following a report received from Trish Clarke and Kim Madden who investigated expanding our website to greatly increase our ability to put examples of artwork to the public and to allow your paintings to be on sale if you wish. The details are yet to be worked through and legal advice will be sought to safeguard us. A further report will be presented to the committee and put to members for acceptance. The committee decided to spend $5060 for this upgrade as another service to you the members and to further modernize the association. The Library budget has been renewed so Fran Daly can continue her terrific job with her purchases for your pleasure. Maria Nolan will still be our Fine Print editor and she is our new Vice President, Elsa Toms having stepped aside as Vice President but continues as an active committee member. Jan Farrell is in charge of our gallery and doing a great job, Jan Wilson is looking after Tutorials and is our other Vice President. Robyn Toms is our Publicity Officer , Debbie Sarkozy is the Secretary, Terri Maddock is the Treasurer and doing a great job, Robin Mearns is our Social Secretary and Rita Carosi organizes our exhibitions and helps with running the Gallery. Last but not least. we have a new member on the committee Bernice Daher who will help in running the gallery and oversee any grants that might be applicable to the H V F A A. That’s in spite of promising her husband that she would say “no” to any duties, what a silly woman. Thanks to the last committee and welcome to the new. We have already started with a busy agenda for 2015/16. Brian Barker Gallery 1 st birthday Celebration Well attended, a great way to mark our first year at our gallery on the Maritime Museum site. A happy event! Many thanks to Robin Mearns & Robyn Toms who orgainized catering& those who assisted in settingup/cleaning up
