Reactions 1374 - 22 Oct 2011 Carbamazepine Skin rash in a child: case report A 6-year-old girl with a mild language delay was diagnosed with focal epilepsy and began receiving carbamazepine [route and dosage not stated]. Despite a reduction in the frequency of her generalised tonic-clonic seizures and reflex seizures, she subsequently developed an allergic skin rash [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Carbamazepine was discontinued, and her seizures became uncontrolled. Combination therapy with clobazam and phenytoin led to an improvement in both unprovoked and reflex seizures. Higuchi T, et al.
