Andrey Lebedev, guitarAustralian-Russian guitarist Andrey Lebedev is on a
mission to redefine the relationship of the guitar to
the classical mainstream. His creative collaborations
and track record of performing new works have
garnered him global attention from critics and
audiences alike.
He was mentored by Julian Bream and John Williams
and was the first young guitarist invited by Bream to
perform for the Julian Bream Trust. His prizes include
first prize in ARD, Guitar Foundation of America and
Gisborne International Music Competition. He
exhibits ceaseless curiosity, which has seen him in
projects ranging from duos on Renaissance lute (with
CMF Artist Lotte Betts Dean, winning the inaugural
Musicians'Company New Elizabethan Award) to
Radiohead arrangements on electric guitar and
recitals with CMF violinist Emily Sun.

Bartosz Glowacki is one of the leading lights of a new
generation of accordionists. His artistic goal is to
continue to increase awareness of the accordion in
classical music and to develop a new repertoire for his
instrument.
Bartosz graduated from The Royal Academy of Music on
BMus and MA courses with distinction and won the
Regency Award for notable achievement. He was Polish
Young Musician of the Year in 2009, and represented
Poland in the final of Eurovision Young Musicians
Competition in Vienna.
Described as creating 'a poignant and distinctive sound
world' by Fiona Maddcks in the Observer, he has
performed solo in Wigmore Hall, Festival Hall and many
other prestigious venues. Bartosz is also a founding
member of The Deco Ensemble and the eastern
european jazz/folk ensemble Baltika and he has
collaborated with The Royal Opera House, The Royal
Ballet, London Symphony Orchestra, and a residency at

Thank you for coming to today’s recital – to enjoy this beautiful
church, and support City Music Foundation Artists Bartosz Glowacki and
Andrey Lebedev.
CMF’s mission is ‘turning talent into success’. We select exceptional
professional musicians at the start of their careers, when managing ‘the
business of music’ can be a challenge, and support them with a
comprehensive career development programme. We arrange mentoring,
run workshops, do agency and management, make CDs, videos and
websites, commission new music, secure airtime on BBC Radio 3 and
promotion though online, print and social media, and put on our own
recitals and concerts and some one-off projects.
CMF Alumni tell us of the many ways CMF has helped them during the very
fragile early stages of their professional careers. Getting the necessary
visibility, and developing networks, gaining recognition in the industry,
having recordings – all this has allowed them to secure their careers as
performers. Our aim is that CMF artists are ready for four decades or more
of contributing to society’s culture and wellbeing – reaching hundreds of
thousands through live performance, CDs, streaming, broadcast, teaching
and mentoring - giving back a thousand fold what CMF has given them.
