Lessons learned during message/material testing

1.You can get a lot of very helpful feedback during a pre-testing for how your materials should look

2.The messages you think were fit for the site are not necessarily the ones the community is fit for them

3.You get a better feel of the “community barometer” when you do pre-testing, especially their attitude towards how they view their MPAs and what it means to them

Changes as a result of pre-testing of message

1.People do not think that the sanctuary puts food on their table. They did not like that message

2.Mascot – to emphasize corals, put fish around it.

3.Women like the turtle because it is cute, but the men said turtles never stay in one place and do not represent the town.

4.Messages chosen were religious or related to heritage (church) of the town.
