Dear Parishioners, Thank You Deacon Mariusz Kosla! At our bilingual farewell celebration at the 12:30 p.m. Sunday Liturgy this weekend we expressed our gratitude to Deacon Mariusz Kosla for his 18 years as Assistant Music Director and eight years serving as a Permanent Deacon. Deacon Mariusz was also a part-time Assistant Music Director, a paid position, with the responsibility of playing and ensuring that all Polish Liturgies were properly conducted and covered. The Funerals, Weddings and Devotions were all directed by him. In addition, he helped to oversee much of the decoration, assisting in ordering the flowers, candles etc. for the altar, with additional volunteers during the Holy Seasons of Advent and Easter.

For the past eight years, he served as an ordained Permanent Deacon, a volunteer position. In this capacity, he was responsible for the Ministers of Care and Eucharistic Ministers, the Polish Lectors, Polish Baptism Preparation, Deacon at Sunday Liturgies, preached, Communion Calls, occasionally celebrated the Sacraments of Marriage and Baptisms, worked with the RCIA candidates, served as deacon at funerals and gave numerous talks, and led many of the Polish devotional prayers throughout the year. He was very dedicated to his liturgical responsibilities with well-prepared homilies and making sure everything was in order with all Polish Liturgical Celebrations. As a talented musician with a strong, clear voice, he did much to lead the people to Christ throughout the Liturgical Year. Please keep Deacon Mariusz, his wife Wiola, his two daughters, and his whole family in your prayers during this time of transition. May God Bless him and his family for all the sacrifices they have made to advance the mission of the church. Farewell! SummerFest and Carnival Kicks off St. John Brebeuf 65th Anniversary Celebration Well, it's that time of the year again. Our Annual SummerFest and Carnival begins this Thursday, June 28, and runs through Sunday, July 1st . The rides and other attractions will start rolling in Sunday night, and the fun begins Thursday. This annual event will again feature rides, food, entertainment, the beer garden, the big SummerFest Raffle! Sunday Morning we'll serve nice, fluffy hot pancakes and juicy pork sausages under the tent. Ride specials are available -- see the flyer in today's bulletin for details. The SummerFest and Carnival is a fundraiser that we count on each year. A financially successful Summerfest and Par-ish Carnival helps us meet our parish financial obligations. The success of the Summerfest and Carnival, though, is not measured strictly in terms of how much money we make. The Summerfest and Carnival helps to bring our parish and the larger community together. It's a chance to gather together with friends and neighbors, both old and new, to renew our bonds with one another in a spirit of fun and friendship. An event such as this does not take place without a lot of help. The SummerFest and Carnival Committee members have been hard at work since January to ensure an enjoyable event. But they can't do it alone. More volunteers are always needed. Please contact John Jekot at the Parish Office (847-966-8145) if you want give some of your time. I wish I could promise you four evenings of great weather for the SummerFest, but I can't. Diakon Mariusz posługiwał w naszej parafii jako organista i dbał o oprawę muzyczną i liturgiczną pol-skich liturgii. Zajmował się oprawą ślubów, pogrzebów, oraz nabożeństw liturgicznych. Dodat-kowo, Diakon był zaangażowany w dekorację kościoła, zajmując się zamawianiem kwiatów, świec ołtarzowych, oraz koordynowaniem woluntariuszy w okresie adwentowym i wielkanocnym. Przez ostatnie 8 lat Diakon Mariusz posługiwał jako diakon stały. W tym zakresie był odpowiedzialny za Szafarzy Komunii Świętej oraz Ministrów Opieki, Polskich Lektorów, Polskie Przygotowanie do Chrztu. Posługiwał również jako diakon podczas Mszy świętych, głosił kazania, jeździł do chorych z

Komunią Świętą, przewodniczył sakramentom małżeństwa i chrztu, przygotowywał dorosłych kandydatów do chrztu, służył jako diakon przy pogrzebach i wygłosił wiele konferencji, oraz przewodniczył licznym nabożeństwom na przestrzeni oststnich lat. Był bardzo oddany liturgicznym zobowiązaniom i starannie przygotowanym do gloszenia kazan, upewniając się że pol-skie celebracje liturgiczne są przygotowane we właściwym porządku. Jako utalentowany muzyk z silnym głosem przybliżal ludzi do Chrystusa w ciagu calego roku liturgicznego. Zachęcam Was do modlitwy za diakona Mariusza, jego żonę Wiolę, i za jego dwie córki podczas tych zmian. Niech mu Bóg błogosławi i jego rodzinie za wszystkie poświęcenia których dokonali aby wspierać misję Kościoła. Summerfest oraz Festyn Saint John Brebeuf na 65 rocznicę powstania parafii. Nasz coroczny Summerfest i Festyn parafialny rozpoczynie się w czwartek, 28 czerwca, i będzie trwał do niedzieli, 1 lipca. W czasie tegorocznego festynu zapraszamy was na jazdę kolejkami, jedzenie i rozrywkę, ogródek piwny, i loterię Summerfest! W niedzielny poranek będziemy serwowali ciepłe, puszyste naleśniki i soczyste kiełbaski pod namiotem. Talony na jazdy kolejkami są nadal dostępne -szczegóły w biuletynie. Summerfest i Festyn to okazja do wsparcia naszej parafii na którą liczymy każdego roku. Finansowy sukces tego wydar-zenia pomaga wywiązać się z finansowych zobowiązań jakie stoją przed naszą parafią. Sukces Summerfest jednakże nie mierzy się tylko ilością zebranych pieniędzy. To wydarzenie to okazja aby zgromadzić naszą parafialną wspólnotę jako jedno. Jest to okazja aby spotkać się z przyjaciółmi i sąsiadami, zarówno starymi jaki i z nowymi, i aby odnowić więzi poprzez ducha zabawy i przyjaźni. Wydarzenie takiego rozmiaru nie miałoby miejsca bez wielkiego wkładu naszych parafian. Grupa przygotowująca Sum-merfest i festyn ciężko pracowała od stycznia tego roku aby to wydarzenie okazało się sukcesem. Pomimo ich wielki-ego wkładu pomoc jest nadal potrzebna i potrzebujemy więcej woluntariuszy do pomocy. UNCLE PETE’S MINISTRY

Each month Uncle Pete’s Sack Dinner Ministry provides over 400 meals to those less fortunate in the Chicagoland area. Some of the locations served include Deborah's Place, Franciscan Shelter, Mother Theresa Sisters of Charity Soup Kitchen, St. Leonard and Grace House. These places in need could use as many as 800 meals each month. Your involvement would be greatly appreciated. And it’s easy.

You simply need to fill the bags and return them to the front of the church on the morning of Tuesday, June 26th, between 5:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.. We need your help. The Women’s Center Bulletin Announcement for June, 2018

We celebrate Father’s Day during June. Many fathers feel a deep loss and sadness due to the abortion of their child. At the Women’s Center, we reduce the number of abortions by approximately 1,000 babies saved each year. We are able to do this because of the counseling, spiritual, and material help which you enable us to provide our mothers and fathers. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: substitute and on-call (flexible hours are available); to sort donated items and assist clients in our Family Room; help with mailings and baby bottle projects; bi-lingual who are conversa-tional in Spanish to help in special areas; Friday morning, Cicero Ave. lobby receptionist from 9-12 a.m.; male volunteers to assist with baby furniture donations; receptionist Thursday or Friday morning and occa-sionally Saturday at our Evergreen Park office. For more info on these volunteer roles, call us at 773-794-1313. SEEKING DONATIONS: We need 4 infant car seat/carriers, 5 20-40 lb. car seats (all less than 7 years old), 2 double stroller s, 4 um-brella strollers, 6 high chairs, 3 toddler beds and 4 walkers. We need baby food (in date) and Enfamil formula and women’s hygiene prod-ucts. Also needed are diapers in sizes 5 and 6 only, summer clothes for girls in sizes 2 and 5 and boys’ summer clothes in sizes 7 and 8. These items cannot be picked up unless accompanied by baby furniture. The families who receive these things are grateful for your generosity.
