Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications*1 in Japan conducted a survey of

information and communication technology (ICT) in 2018.

The survey found that LINE had the largest number of users among social media in Japan.

About 60% of people used LINE, including light users. As an overall trend, the number of

people answering “mostly *2browse postings and comments of others and rarely send

information or comments” was larger than that of those answering “actively send information

and make comments”.

According to the survey, (1)there were not a few people who experienced troubles through

the use of social media. The survey included international comparison about a feeling of trust

lower trust in others both online and offline than the users in other countries.
