„Adventures of a Mathematician” („Geniusze”) is an international co-production, an adaptation of bio-graphy of Stanisław Ulam, who was a Polish mathe-matician genius. Fleeing from the war he found himself in America, where he worked on hydrogen bomb. He also participated in creation of first com-puters. Stanisław was a part of famous „Lviv school”, because of his charming personality and charisma he was percieved as an „atypical mathematician”. However, in the depths of his soul, he hid his true and dark emotions. Film covers 15 years of Stani-sław’s life – period between emigration to Ameri-ca (1939) and discovering hydrogen bomb (early 1950s).

The forgotten, pioneering experiment of a military psychologist Dr. Terelak, who studied limits of hu-man psyche in conditions of the Antarctic isolation, turned out to be a metaphor of the system, full of humor and irony, and became a prologue for the reality yet to come. Following events that took place in the Polish polar base almost 40 years ago, we experience the same pressure that the team of Mars missions will have to undergo! Looking back to the past, we observe the future, and the question rema-ins if psychological conditions of our species will not block the colonization of other planets, even when technological barriers are finally overcome.

How selective is our memory? Do we remember what we have experienced or what we have chosen to remember? Can we forget the things that hurt us? In the end, are we simply just the sum of all those things we don’t forget? Apples, an allegorical and somehow funny story, is in its core an effort to explore the way our memory functions and how this affects our being.

Back Home tells a story of a family. A very typical family next-door. Hidden secrets and inner parent-s-children relations lead to disintegration of the relationship both between the family members, as well as between them and the local community. The desire to build family relations on the existing mora-lity and a clear-cut moral code within the changing world lead to a crisis. The dynamics of contempora-ry social processes, as well as of the local commu-nities of small and medium-sized towns, makes ad-olescents distant from their families and traditions. The protagonist, Urszula, walks the dramatic path to independence and finding her own definition of the terms that are crucial in life and for building relations with other people, such as kinship, love, dedication, brotherhood.

The story of the investigation to unravel the mysterious death of a beautiful young woman in Nazi-occupied Warsaw. She is not Krystyna Holzer, as stated in her kennkarte (German-issu-ed identity document), but a Jewess kept hidden by a Pole - a polonized Saxon - attorney Karol Karlzer. Before the outbreak of war, the woman was his student as well as the object of his un-requited love. The case is assigned to Detective Chief Inspector Rafał Król, an officer of the so--called Blue Police under the control of the Ger-man occupiers, but also a soldier of the Polish underground, sworn to execute his orders. It is a suspenseful story set in the faithfully-recre-ated reality of occupied Warsaw and Zakopane.

Maciej Berbeka makes the first winter ascent of Broad Peak in 1988, escaping death by inches. Andrzej Zawada, the expedition leader, announces a great success. Once they return to Poland, it turns out Maciej reached ‘only’ the Rocky Summit, which is twenty-three metres lower than the actual peak located one hour away. Resentful of his friends’ lies, Berbeka withdraws from mountaineering. Twenty--four years later, he takes a call from Krzysztof Wie-licki, who also participated in the first expedition. ‘We have to finish what we started,’ says Krzysztof as he persuades Maciej to join the next Broad Peak expedition. After a long hesitation, Maciej decides to try once again.

Why does someone become a football fan? Is it abo-ut excitement, passion, being in a group, or a club’s unique history? What drives football fanatics? Ce-zary Grzesiuk spent a decade filming the lives of supporters of the Ruch Chorzów club. These many years of work allowed him to photograph the close--knit community of football fanatics. Not from the side-lines, not from behind a wall of police officers, but from the very heart of the ultras sector. This enabled him to show the brighter and darker side of the world of football fans in Poland and elsewhere. Themes in the film include the friendship between fans of Atletico Madrid and Ruch Chorzów and the hooligan code passed on from father to son.

The filmmakers discover that the escape of the SS-woman was or-ganized by her former victims - Polish pri-soners of the Ravensbrück concentration camp. This story was kept secret for many years. Why did Ravensbrück survivors hel-ped an SS-woman avoid death sentence? The filmmakers explore circumstances of this escape, to find out who Johanna Lan-gefeld was and why Ravensbrück survivors decided to give her freedom. This Polish--German investigation leads to surprising discoveries about the heroes of the story as well as the historical circumstances.

Decent is a documentary on the possibilities of de-centralized technologies, their potential to change societies. It focuses on people – those who deve-lop the blockchain technology and the ones who potentially need it. Puerto Rican activist, a coder from Venezuela, and boss of a successful Canadian startup – by sharing their stories, full of enthusia-sm, doubts, and dramas – try to define blockchain. It certainly influences their lives, but is it, as some expect, a cure for all the diseases of this world? A huge amount of blockchain-based projects prove that it can rapidly change the lives of individuals. But can it rebuild island ruined by cataclysm, help the refugees in camps, implement a better demo-cracy or introduce banking services to people who never had a chance to use them?

The inhabitants of the city undergo the sessions on the couch. Unlocked by formally trivial questions, they begin their journey into the depths of their own feelings and emotions towards the place whe-re they live. The city itself becomes only a starting point. Over time, conversations get more intima-te. The scenes from life, reminiscences and highly emotional moments interlace with the subjectively perceived shots of the city. They are blending to-gether, complementing and interacting with each other. The fears of the film characters, their desires and unfinished affairs become the narrative axis of the film by constituting a common fate.

In the years 1987-1997 Zdzislaw Beksinski, a distin-guished Polish painter, recorded about 300 hours of footage in which he captured not only his private life, his work but also the world around him. From the Inside, is the only documentary about Beksinski – the well-known Polish artist who still attracts a lot of attention, that is made entirely out of the original footage recorded by the artist himself and his close family. This unique film mosaic shows not only the process in which his amazing paintings are created along the complex family relations but it also intro-duces Beksinski as the meticulous chronicler of the life in Poland at the time of transition from commu-nism to budding but already brutal capitalism.

Team of hipster filmmakers is awaiting the come-back of an influential Director, who left without a trace. We accompany Rita, an actress, and ex--poet, who is preparing for a new film, and Dirk, Director’s ex-lover who, now rejected, hires a killer to get rid of him. Instead of the Director, a member of a far-left militant group arrives to get back the money kept by the filmmakers. It soon turns out that the money was already spent on the new pro-ject and the consequences might be devastating for everyone involved. The group is heading for a me-eting with the Director at the next movie’s location, but He doesn’t show up. As the disenchanted actors return home, they find Director’s dead body in the bedroom. The grief after the loss is accompanied by a feeling of freedom and new possibilities.

“Icarus” is the true story of Mieczysław “Mietek” Kosz, a Polish jazz pianist who died in tragic cir-cumstances and whose life we see through select episodes depicting the most influential moments in his life and career: his childhood on a poor farm in the farmlands of Poland and the loss of his eyesight at age 12 to a debilitating disease and the trauma that it causes. We witness the birth of his gifts - an uncanny ear for music and his determination shared only by true virtuosos. We witness the great heights he achieves in his career that is accompanied by his loneliness and desperate need for acceptance. We see how low he falls due to his fight with alcoho-lism and trying to deal with the consequences of his fame. All this leads to his “rebirth” when he meets the love of his life, Ewa.

„The In-Between” is a story of a retired theater ac-tor Lucjan, who cannot come to terms with passing away. He escapes deep into the world of his me-mories and imagination, a place where he is more than just an old, unneeded, dying man. It’s a bit-ter-sweet tale about accepting the inevitable. „The In-Between” is a mix of social drama and fantasy, never before seen in Polish cinematography. There are foreign films that explored similar genre mixes, like the American classic „Neverending Story” (by Wolfgang Petersen) or the Spanish „Pan’s Labyrinth” (by Guillermo del Toro).

The script was written by Andrzej Żuławski and is his most contemporary story. It’s about Poles and Poland and is concerned with what is happening here and now. It tells the story of brothers, couples and friends, all trying to find a place in contempo-rary Warsaw. Intellectuals, teachers, musicians and painters, all barely making ends meet, but neverthe-less intent on improving their country. The author was unable to make the film, but before his death he passed the script to his son, Xawery. The story channels the unrest currently sweeping Poland and Europe. With its depiction of the groundswell of hatred and aggression on the streets and in the me-dia, of people shouting to drown out one another’s arguments, and of the virtual civil war bringing a di-vided society ever closer to its doom.

A universal story about entering adulthood in diffi-cult times, growing up to the community. The great history is the background for the love story unfol-ding in the foreground: Józek, a deserter from the tsarist army who joins the emerging Legions, an in-telligence agent for the I Brigade and Women’s Le-age member- Ola, and Tadek, her fiancée, a member of Shooting Team. Apart from fictitious characters whose stories were modeled on the biographies of real legionnaires, many historical figures appear in the film. Among them: Brigadier Józef Piłsudski, Lieutenant Stanisław Kaszubski, pseud. „King” and many others. The film focuses on the Legion’s com-bat trail from1914-1916, from the departure from Oleandry to the battle of Kościuchnowka and show the most dramatic cards of the legionary epic, inclu-ding the famous attack of uhlans at Rokitna - one of the most spectacular scenes in the film.

„Why does nobody ask if there was love in the ghetto? Why is nobody interested in it? Love made people last.”The question put forward by Marek Edelman, the former commander of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising is a call for seeing that the hell of the ghetto still let good and beauty exist. And love. Love turns out to be the most important value, more important even than life.

Mary is just some lonely, smalltown grocery store worker, living a life free from sin. Struggling with menopause, she visits her doctor, who prescribes a course of hormone replacement therapy. On the eve of her 50th birthday, Mary’s life begins to take a totally unexpected turn: it is freaking magical. As she starts to feel things differently, she begins to live more extravagantly. On top of this, her young, vivacious niece keeps showing up at her doorstep and affects Mary’s sexual awakening. But there’s something much darker bubbling beneath the sur-face. Meanwhile, a holy presence in Mary’s home appears to silently judge her, which deepens the hero’s uncertainty. This religious anxiety threatens to suppress her newfound lust for life. Mary must act if she is to keep the wickedness at bay.

Three generations of women - a mother, a daughter and a granddaughter - tell their story of war trauma directly experienced by the mother, who miraculo-usly survived a Nazi pacification of her village Sochy on the 1st of June 1943, making her one of the very few survivors. The story of a family trauma being passed on to younger generations is a mere starting point for a deep conversation about war’s impact on children, as well as violence - one that’s not only occuring during military conflicts, but also revealing itself in times of peace through the horrific ways pe-ople treat animals. Timeless question about the ori-gins of evil and human need for violence are being looked at from the perspective of three generations and, in the current geopolitical climate, they sound extremely relevant.

It is 1953. Poland is suffocating in the thick fumes of Stalinism. Poverty reigns, and so do censorship and fear. The thinking part of the society feel the absurdity and hopelessness, and sometimes try to tame it resorting to vodka and some good company. With black humor, sex and sincere emotions aplen-ty, Mr. T. is a story of freedom in enslaved times. As night encroaches on the streets of Warsaw, a motorbike and two military trucks drive around carrying a group of armed terrorists. Everybody is wearing identical shop-window dummy masks on their faces. The city is in for some bigger business… Mr. T. will thwart the attack on the Palace, and even discover that the spy plot has been spearheaded by prime minister Boleslaw Bierut himself

Inspired by the true story of Jan Nowak-Jeziorański, an emissary working for the underground Polish Home Army during World War II. It’s July 1944 and the Home Army Headquarters is in the final stages of secret talks whether or not to start a military uprising. Jan Nowak is entrusted with a dangerous mission to travel from London to German-occupied Warsaw to deliver information crucial to the Home Army’s final decision. Delayed by a series of unfo-reseen events and with the Gestapo trying to inter-cept him at all costs, he must reach the Polish Com-manders before the irreversible decision is made without him completing his mission. A mission that might alter the fate of Poland and World War II.

1933. Gareth Jones is an ambitious young Welsh journalist who gained fame after his report on being the first foreign journalist to fly with Hitler. Whilst working as an advisor to Lloyd George, he is now looking for his next big story. Jones travels to Moscow in an at-tempt to get an interview with Stalin himself. There he meets Ada Brooks, a British jour-nalist working in Moscow, who reveals that the truth behind the regime is being violently repressed. Hearing murmurs of government--induced famine, a secret carefully guarded by the Soviet censors, Jones manages to elude the authorities and travels clandestinely to Ukraine, where he witnesses the atrocities of man-made starvation – millions left to starve – as all grain is sold abroad to finance the in-dustrialising Soviet empire.

The key aim of every ZOO is to protect animal species from extinction. In times of war, the most endangered species was the man. Under the Nazis’ noses, about 300 people, mainly Jews, found shelter at the Warsaw Zoo during the Second World War. With the help of reenacted scenes with animals, interviews with the survivors, and archive foota-ge, we are going to revive the surreal atmosphere of those events.

For Tamil people her name means Miss Victory, for Sri Lankan government she is a terrorist under surveillance. Vetri was a fighter for two decades, joining the Tamil Tigers at the age of 17. During the Sri Lankan civil war she lost one arm and one eye and became known as the Voice of the Tigers, a poet and radical ideologist of the movement. In the film we follow her on a journey to find former comrades and give voice to the untold stories of the female fighters. After meeting one of them, Soder, now with a completely destroyed face, Vetri bre-aks down. Soon after she starts an organization for handicapped women and tries to move on. But is it possible to start a new life when you’ve been part of an organization considered terrorist? And is Vetri ready to face the truth about her own past?

Three separate stories of people variously bruised and uprooted by the endless Russian war with small states that do not want to obey their imperial po-licy „Shadows of The Empire” is ultimately a story of hope in the face of cruelty of history.’ - Michal Oleszczyk. How to live in a shadow of an empire? How can you think about the future if all that you see through the window are barbed wires, armo-ured vehicles and tanks? Aleksey from Nagorno--Karabakh, Timur from Ukraine, and Alexander from Georgia are facing these questions every day. The-se three men differ in almost every aspect of their lives, but in fact, each of them experiences a war - the already forgotten border conflicts, that happe-ned after the USSR collapse, and are still alive due to the Russian imperial policy.

Three men, one place and one event that will chan-ge the life of each one of them. A universal tale, kept in a realistic style, tells the story of a few hours in the life of a rural community. The film takes a look at the condition of a man in a borderline situation and raises questions about the essence of chance and destiny. A bloody story, oscillating on the edge of drama, thriller and disaster cinema.

„Underage Engineers” is a documentary film about how a particular person - a charisma-tic teacher - can change the lives of a typical teenager, and how such an adult can also chan-ge under the influence of his pupils. Film about transformation, discovering passion and having a positive impact on a child’s approach to lear-ning and life... We’ve been observing our pro-tagonists for more than two years, at the most important moment in their development (ages 12 to 15). During their very first lesson they heard that they should throw away their textbo-oks. Then it got even stranger, with 13-year-olds from a small Polish town will attempting to build satellite sail test models? Full of humour and a reflection portrait of modern youth - for many a sentimental journey into our past.

The Whale from Lorino is a story about the people who inhabit one of the most severe and inaccessi-ble spots on Earth, Chukchi Peninsula. It is located on the north eastern edge of Eurasia, on the Bering and Chukchi Seas, separated by a narrow strait from Alaska, and for thousands of years has been inha-bited by humans and whales. We observe how the different heroes within the community are united by the ancient tradition of hunting for the whales. Individual characters appear alternately: Wowa the hunter, Lizaveta the museum curator, Irina the owner of the only shop in the village of Inczoun Iri-na... They are all guardians of this mysterious corner of the world. Their plots will allow us to understand why they want to keep away from modern, globali-zed world and save this magic place.

Carrara is an Italian town famous for white marble extraction. It is a uniquely preserved world. A time machine. It has always been a Mecca for sculptors. Modern technology has shaken the foundations of this world with the development of a robot that can carve any 3D marble shape from a computer file. The consequences of this revolution is obvious—it is the beginning of the end. Despite this, the Tali-ban of sculptures, as local artists call themselves, are not giving up. Marble, they say, needs love and time. However, there is no time. Time is money. The means of production in art have changed. Yet there are still no good answers to related questions: What is work on a work of art today? What is the quality of work? And perhaps the most important of them—what exactly is an artwork today?

The film tells the untold story of a resistance group in the Warsaw Ghetto who risked their lives so that the truth would survive even if they did not. Led by historian Emanuel Ringelblum, this clandestine organization collected, recorded, and, on the eve of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, buried hundreds of thousands of eye-witness accounts that would „scream the truth to the world”. Who Will Write Our History is based entirely on the letters and diaries of this secret archive, read by Adrien Brody and Joan Allan and brought to life in on-screen performances from leading Polish actors.

The halny wind is the most unpredictable element in the Polish mountains. It comes in cycles, in eve-ry spring and autumn. One never knows if or when it turns into a destructive gale. Halny particularly affects the inhabitants of Zakopane and its area, changing picturesque mountain trails into a set for an untamed performance of nature. When it arri-ves, people become more anxious and aggressive, the number of suicides is at its highest level and many patients with heart conditions are admitted to hospitals. The combination of the multi-thread narrative and the observation of natural phenome-na results in a documentary symphony filled with emotions. Its structure – exposition, development, and coda – overlaps one life cycle of halny in the Podhale region.

WIND UP is a postmodern film poem, a fairy tale in contemporary decorations about a world in which human organisms act on a hidden spring and every now and then they have to be shot. It is a reality in which loneliness carries a daily threat. You never know when a man will turn up. That’s why you have to stick together. But what will happen when we trust the hands of an old friend or husband not by choice of heart. Twisted is a challenge for others. One will pass, perhaps with a bad conscience, other will take the trouble to help him. Strange thing with this wriggling. Sometimes the spring is enough for years, other times it can be unscrewed three times a week. The durability of the spring is mysteriously connected with the psyche. The film takes place on the streets of a night large city.

The 70s. A Security Service Major wishes to „buy” gullible priest Zieja and turn him into an agent who will discredit the opposition. The priest’s in-terrogations become a natural pretext for a jour-ney through the history of Poland in the twentieth century: from the Bolshevik war of 1920, through World War II, up to modern times. It turns out that the seemingly naive Father Zieja is actually a cle-ver rebel. The world he lived in was unacceptable to him. He was ahead of his time. A lonely journey without a passport to Rome in the 1930s turned into thoughts of a European Union. Performing the Catholic funeral rites of a woman who com-mitted suicide (during the 20s of the past century) was an protest against the church’s rules. Proc-laiming the slogan „never kill anyone, not even your enemies” during the Second World War, was against patriotic mythologies and foretold future pacifist attitudes. Zieja puts his life and freedom on the line in the name of moral, ethical and reli-gious values in which he believed. The film „Zieja” is rooted in the movement of Polish Catholicism, which is based on high ethical standards, pover-ty and tolerance, as well as respect and love for other human beings.
