The Old Town / Die AltstadtThe Old Town is one of the most popular attractionsin Warsaw and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Originally built in late medieval/early renaissanceperiod, the whole area was rebuilt after it wasalmost completely destroyed in World War II. In theOld Town there are many interesting places worthvisiting, like the Royal Castle, the SigismundsColumn, the Warsaw Mermaid in the Market Place,St. Johns Cathedral (with corpses of manyimportant Poles) and the city walls with theBarbican. In the Old Town there are also plenty ofsmall museums, beautiful streets and squaressurrounded by houses from the medieval andrenaissance times (within the walls) and moremodern times (like XIX century, just outside the citywalls).

Die Altstadt ist eine beliebte Attraktion inWarschau und ein UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. Siewurde in Mittelalter/Renaissance gebaut, aber siewurde nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wieder gebaut,denn sie war vernichtet. In der Altstadt befindensich viele interessante Attraktionen, zum Beispielder Königsschloss, die Sigismundssäule, dieWarschauer Meerjungfrau auf dem Marktplatz, dieJohanneskathedrale (mit den Leichnamen vonwichtigen Polen) und die Stadtmauern mit derBarbakane. In der Altstadt befinden sich auchkleine Museen, schöne Strassen und Plätze mitmittelalterlichen oder Renaissance (in der Altstadt)und neuern (in der Neustadt) Häusern.

The Palace of Culture and Science Der Kultur- und WissenschaftspalastThe Palace of Culture and Science is an enormousbuilding in the central of Warsaw and the tallestbuilding in Poland. It was built in a socailistrealistic style after World War II as a gift from theUSSR. Currently there is a cultural area with:cinemas, theatres, museums, shops, a univeristy, aconference hall, a swimming pool, multiple officesand a viewing terrace almost at the top of thebuilding.

Der Kultur- und Wissenschaftspalast ist ein grossessozialrealistiches Gebäude im Zentrum vonWarschau und das höchste Gebäude in Polen. Erwurde nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg gebaut. Er war"ein Geschenk" von der Sowjetunion. Jetzt befindensich hier: Kinos, Theater, Museen, Laden, einUniversität, ein Konferenzsaal, ein Schwimmbad,Büros und eine Aufsichtsterrasse fast an der Spitze.

Royal Łazienki / Łazienki-ParkThe Royal Łazienki is a park complex in the centerof Warsaw. In the complex there is a pond whereyou can see many birds (peacocks and ducks) butthe biggest attractions are the different buildingsand monuments scattered around the park. Themost important part of Łazienki are the Palace onthe Isle in the middle of the lake, the Amphitheaterand the monument to Frederic Chopin. These areonly a few of the long list of palaces, houses, stables,orangeries and temples. Near the park there arealso the Belvedere Palace, the Ujazdów Park (withIgnacy Jan Paderewski's monument) and theCastle.

Der Łazienki-Park ist ein Park in Zentrum vonWarschau. In diesem Park gibt es einen Teich mitvielen Vögel (z.B. Enten oder Pfauen), aber diewichtigeste Attraktionen sind Gebäude undDenkmäler, z.B. der Palast auf dem Wasser, dasAmphitheater und der Chopin-Denkmal. In derNähe von dem Park gibt es z.B. das Belvedere,Ujazdów Schloss und Ujazdów Park mit demDenkmal von Ignacy Jan Paderewski.

Wilanów Palace / Wilanów-PalastThe Wilanów Palace is a baroque palace withgardens originally built for the King John IIIlocated in Warsaw. The palace is an attraction byitself but it also houses an interesting museum.Around the palace there are big multi-style gardenswhere you can take a walk. Sometimes there arealso concerts and exhibitions organised there.

Der Wilanów-Palast ist ein Barockpalast mit Gärtenin Warschau. Er wurde für König Jan III Sobieskigebaut. Der Palast ist eine interessanteSehenswürdigkeit und er ist ein Museum. Mankann hier in großen Gärten spazieren. Manchmalgibt es hier Konzerte und Ausstellungen.

The Warsaw Uprising MuseumMuseum des Warschauer Aufstandes

The Warsaw Uprising Museum is dedicated to theWarsaw Uprising. Inside the museum there aremany interactive exhibitions including numerousreplicas (planes, cars and even sewers) and actualitems (or whats left of them) from the time of theuprising. The museum teaches the Polish historynot only through exhibits, but also throughminimovies, leaflets and photos. It is one of the bestmuseums in Poland.

Ein der wichtigsten Museen in Warschau ist dasMuseum des Warschauer Aufstandes. In demMuseum befindet sich eine interaktive Ausstellungmit Flugzeug-, Auto- und Kanalisationreplik undExponaten von dem Aufstandszeit. In der Museumkann man polniche Gechichte via Filmen, Fotos undBrochüren lernen.

The Zoo / Der ZooIn Warsaw you can also take some rest by going tothe local zoo. There one is able to see over 500species of animals, including lions, tigers, bears,elephants, different fish and birds, and much more.

In Warschau kann man sich auch im Zooentspannen. Hier man kann über 500 Tierartensehen, z.B. Löwen, Tiger, Bären, Elefanten, vieleFische und Vögel.

Copernicus Centre + BoulevardsKopernikus Zentrum +Boulevarden

You can also spend free time in the CopernicusScience Centre where you can touch science(literally). It has over 400 interactive exhibitsteaching different sciences, a Planetarium and evena theatre where all actors are robots. After a visit inthe Centre you can take a walk in the new VistulanBoulevards with restaurants, cafes and many placesto sit and relax (some right next to the river), allright next to the Centre, in the middle of the city.

In Warschau man kann außerdem die Freizeit indem Kopernikus Wissenschaftszentrum verbringen,wo man lernen und spielen kann. Hier gibt es einPlanetarium, ein Robotertheater und über 400interaktive Ausstellungsstücke. In der nähe vondem Zentrum befinden sich Weichselboulevardenmit Restaurants, Cafes und viele Sitzbänke, wo manspazieren und sich entspannen kann.

Kampinos ParkThe Kampinos National Park is the National Parklocated on the West of Legionowo. It covers the areaof the Kampinos Forest. In the park we can seenumerous swamps where many rivers meettogether. There are over a thousand species ofplants here and over sixteen thousand species ofanimals including the endangered ones. Some of theanimals inhabiting the park are: moose (the parkssymbol), beavers, lynxes, wolves, foxes, otters,hedgehogs, deer, boars, badgers, bats, owls, cranes,storks and woodpeckers.

Der Nationalpark Kampinos ist ein Nationalparkwestlich von Legionowo. Er befindet sich in derKampinos-Heide. Hier kann man viele Sümpfen undFlüsse sehen. Hier gibt es über 1000 Pflanzartenund uber 16000 Tierarten (unter anderemgefährdete Arten), wie zum Beispiel: Elch (Symboldes Nationalparks), Biber, Luchse, Wölfe, Füchse,Otter, Igel, Hirsch, Eber, Dachse, Fledermäuse,Eulen, Kraniche, Störche und Spechte.

Zegrze Lake / Zegrze-StauseeThe Zegrze Lake is an artificial lake created on tworivers Bug and Narew by building a dam. It islocated in the north of Legionowo County and coversan area of 30 km2. It is a popular recreation placefor the citizens of Legionowo and Warsaw due toabundance of artificial beaches, hotels, restaurants,boating and fishing clubs.

Der Zegrze-Stausee ist ein Stausee an der Narewund dem Bug. Er liegt nördlich von Legionowo undseine Oberfläche beträgt 30 km2. Er ist einbeliebtes Urlaubsort für die Einwohner vonLegionowo und Warschau, denn hier befinden sichStrände, Hotels, Restaurants, Segeln- oderAngelclubs.

LegionowoLegionowo is a quite modern town (existing only forover one hundred years) located on the North ofWarsaw. It has 50 thousand inhabitants and thebiggest population density in Poland. In the city youcan find some old buildings though, for example XIXcentury Russian barracks (many turned intohouses), villas and churches. Apart from XIX andXX century architecture you can also see beautifulmodern architecture, like the Arena or the CityHall. The city also has its own history museum andthe patriotic mural depicting important battles inthe Polish history.

Legionowo ist eine junge Stadt (Sie ist erst 100Jahre alt). Sie befindet sich nördlich von Warschau.Hier wohnen über 50.000 Einwohner und es hat derhöchsten Bevolkerungsdichte in Polen. In der Stadtbefinden sich viele alte Gebäude, zum Beispiel XIXJahrhundert Russische Baracke (viele sindWohnhäuser jetzt), Villen und Kirchen. Man kannhier auch moderne Gebäude (zum Beispiel dieArena oder das Rathaus) sehen. In der Stadtbefindet sich auch ein historiches Museum und einepatriotische Wandmalerei mit polnischenSchlachten.

Primary School nr 1 Grundschule nr 1

Primary School nr 1 in Legionowo named afterNicolaus Copernicus was the first school inLegionowo. The modern building was built in 1950sbut it got plenty of renovations and additions, incl. afootball pitch, a new flank.

Grundschule nr 1 – Kopernikus-Grundschule - wardie erste Schule in Legionowo. Die neue Gebäudewar in 1950er gebaut aber sie hatte vieleAufarbeitungen und Ausbauen, z.B. eine neueFlanke und ein Fußballplatz.
