February 19—Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time In today’s first reading, the Israelites are urged to love their neighbors as themselves. In the Gospel, Jesus spells out how we are to do that—to give generously to those who ask of us and not to turn our backs on those who seek to borrow.

STEWARDSHIP IN ACTION “What benefits is there if someone claims to have faith, but he does not have works?

So if a brother or sister is naked and daily in need of food and if anyone of you were to say to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and nourished,” and yet not give them the things that are necessary for the body, of what benefit is this? Thus even faith, if it does not have works, is dead, in and of itself.” James 2:14-17

“LORD of the Harvest, BLESS young people with the gift of courage to respond to your call. Open their hearts to great ideals, to great things. INSPIRE all of your disciples to mutual love and giving—for vocations blossom in the good soil of faithful people. INSTILL those in

religious life, parish ministries, and families with the confi-dence and grace to invite others to embrace the bold and noble path of a life consecrated to you. UNITE us to Jesus through prayer and sacrament, so that we may cooperate with you in building your reign of mercy and truth, of justice and peace. Amen” Pope Francis

☺ Ministers, Lectors, Altar Servers & Greeters ☺ Please let Cindy know availability info for the March—April schedule which includes Holy Week & Easter. Please email, call or drop a note in the parish office by Mon-day evening please. Thank you.

On Sun, Jan 29 the Spokesman-Review ran an article on funeral costs in the Spokane area. Unfortunately, they mis-represented Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services of Spo-kane in many ways, especially in costs. We are in fact a non-profit, charitable ministry of the Diocese of Spokane and the only non-profit funeral and cemetery provider in Spo-kane. We are your official resource for all end of life plan-ning—faithful to the traditions and rituals of our Catholic Church. For further information, please call us at 467-5496.

For our 125th Anniversary Celebration we are looking for people to help on a committee to plan some fun activities to help us in our celebration. If you are not able to make this meeting but want to be in-volved please call Cheri Hoagburg at 863-3748 or email at [email protected]. Send any and all ideas my way, they will be greatly appreciated. Are you creative? Do you like designing? We are also looking for a logo to use with our 125th anniversary cele-bration. Please send all your inspired ideas to Cheri by Feb. 23rd. We will vote on all logos at the Masses on the week-end of Feb. 25/26. Our celebration logo will be revealed the following weekend.
