Abstract

of 0.itening on enamel structure -.e effecti/eness of teet. 0.itening 0as assessed

y comparing t.e toot. colour efore and after t.e treatment using t.e 1I-2*23 !D$

M2S-4' s.ade indicator -.e in /itro researc. .as not indicated any negati/e

influence on t.e enamel structure and it .as s.o0n .ig.er effecti/eness of t.e

5eyond 6.itening system as compared to t.e 0.itening strips met.od 0.ic. .as

2mong all t.e procedures used in oral .ealt. care teet. 0.itening is one of

t.e met.ods t.at gi/e patients t.e greatest satisfaction It is essentially a eautifying

treatment ut considering t.e oost t.at it gi/es to state of mind and self$esteem it

also .as a sustantial t.erapeutic effect -.is treatment usually in/ol/es solutions

containing .ydrogen pero7ide and urea pero7ide 4ffecti/eness of compounds

containing 8%9% .as een confirmed y numerous researc.es (%) 8o0e/er t.ere

is a certain contro/ersy o/er safety of using .ydrogen pero7ide 0.ile t.e mec.anism

of its 0.itening effect is not fully understood yet 2fter long$term use of 0.itening

sustances applied on 0.itening strips (o/er$nig.t 0.itening 0.itening strips

met.od) t.ere is a fre;uent effect of toot. .ypersensiti/ity 0.ic. is oser/ed in t.e

case of from &< to =>< of all patients (according to our o0n researc.) -.ere are

se/eral factors t.at determine t.e le/el of toot. .ypersensiti/ity and t.ey include

concentration time and fre;uency of application (%) and t.e state of enamel

8ypersensiti/ity typically passes after t.e end of t.e treatment ut it some cases it

persists muc. longer

In t.e last years t.ere .a/e een tendencies to s.orten t.e time of t.e

0.itening treatment itself 9ne of t.e suggestions is 0.itening using an accelerating

lamp t.at emits lue lig.t filtered y aout %&&& optical fires in order to eliminate

t.e emission of .eat and ultra/iolet lig.t -.e treatment 0.ic. takes aout #&

minutes in/ol/es emitting lig.t of t.e 0a/elengt. et0een #,& and >%& nanometres

0.ic. acti/ates t.e sustance spread on t.e teet. containing 8%9% and silicon

dio7ide 0it. an acti/ator and sustances t.at reduce toot. .ypersensiti/ity

-.is paper focuses on an attempt to compare t.e influence of 0.itening using

morp.ology 0ere otained 2fter 0.itening treatment using t.e ?5eyond 6.itening@

accelerator in magnification of 7&&& and lo0er t.in 0.ite lines on t.e enamel

(*icture 25C) 0ere oser/ed In magnification of 7%>&& and .ig.er one can

notice t.at c.aracteristic lines come from spot secretions t.at fill some interprismatic

sustance (*icture %25C)

2rrangement of secretions (c.aracteristic strips) is per.aps t.e effect of t.e met.od

of 0.itening sustance application (spread 0it. a paintrus.) Due to small percent

concentration of t.e secreted p.ase t.e attempt to measure its c.emical

composition 0as not successful

In t.e case of t.e 0.itening strips met.od .ypersensiti/ity occurred on t.e

second or t.e t.ird day after application of t.e 0.itening sustance *atients most

fre;uently reported t.e sensation of tingling urning reaction to cold .eat and

touc. Moreo/er in se/eral cases patients reported joint pain caused y increasing

t.e .eig.t of occlusion and some of t.em complained aout sali/ation Due to

discomfort some of t.e patients did not follo0 t.e instructions on t.e time of t.e

sustance application per eac. day

9ur e7perience .as s.o0n t.at t.e patients 0.o .ad t.e 0.itening treatment

using t.e 0.itening strips met.od did not ac.ie/e a satisfactory 0.itening effect e/en

if t.ey .ad precisely follo0ed t.e instructions -.e possile reason could e eating

et0een t.e 0.itening cycles Suc. effects do not occur in t.e case of 0.itening

using t.e 5eyond 6.itening accelerator e/en if a patient smokes cigarettes

conclusions:

of t.e treatment
