Abstract. One of the paratypes of Calappa qudrimaculata Takeda & Shikatani, 1900 and two specimens of C. clepeata Borradaile, 1903 from Nakagusuku Bay, Okinawa-jima Island in the Ryukyu Islands, are “left-handed” unlike normal “right-handed” individuals. Although we could not conclude the reason of this reverse heterochely, possible explanations were sought in the abnormal regeneration of one or both chelipeds, or reverse spiral cleavage in the early stage of embryonic development.
