Breast cancer: case report16 years after receiving vincristine, cyclophosphamide,

mitomycin, chromomycin and carboquone for osteosarcomaof the left knee, a 24-year-old woman presented with a mass inthe upper outer quadrant of her left breast She had receivedthe antineoplastic therapy for about 2 years before and afteramputation of her left femur.

Mammography and ultrasonography revealed a tumourshadow and multiple cysts. Fine needle aspiration of thetumour revealed cancerous cells.

A radical mastectomy was performed and the patientreceived antineoplastic therapy for 2 years. She was disease-free 45 months after surgery.

Author comment: ’This case was distinctive because thepatient had no irradiation of the chest wall and had beentreated only with chemotherapy before developing breastcancer as a second primary tumor.’Ikeda T, et al.
